OCRA – Oklahoma Court Reporters Association

OCRA is a volunteer professional association of court reporters in the state of Oklahoma. Through education, promotion, and encouragement, the organization is committed to ensuring the future of the profession of capturing and preserving the spoken word.

OCRA strives to afford the citizens of the State of Oklahoma total access to the spoken word. The Association implements programs to inspire the respect and credibility essential to the achievements of its mission.

For the benefit of the reporters in Oklahoma, OCRA sponsors two seminars a year and online opportunities for continuing education credits; employs a lobbyist to promote and protect the profession at the Legislature; is committed to training the officers of the Association and its members concerning technology, the profession, ethics, and ever changing laws and rules concerning court reporters.

The Association is governed by a board of directors which consists of working reporters that volunteer their time for our profession. Dues are paid yearly by the first day of January of each year.

OCRA is not directly connected with the CSR Board and AOC, but work in conjunction with them for the benefit of court reporters in the state of Oklahoma.

CSR Board – State Board of Examiners of Certified Shorthand Reporters

This board consists of five members, all of whom are certified shorthand reporters, and appointed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
Their duties include administering the CSR exam, review and approval of continuing education programs, and conducting disciplinary proceedings. All actions of the Board shall be supervised by the Supreme Court and be subject to approval by the Court.

AOC – Administrative Office of the Courts.

The Administrator for the Courts and her staff, under supervision of the Chief Justice and the Supreme Court, coordinates judicial operations and personnel throughout the state. Part of the duties include: handling payroll, training, data systems, maintaining a roll of certified reporters for the state, tracking reported CE credits, and other responsibilities. They also provide an Official’s Handbook of rules governing official reporters. The AOC is also responsible for collecting the licensure fees of certified court reporters. At the present time, the annual licensure fee is $30.00.

NCRA – National Court Reporters Association

NCRA is a national association for court reporters. The National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) promotes excellence among those who capture and convert the spoken word to text and is committed to supporting every Member in achieving the highest level or professional expertise.
